When our artist clients reached out to us with a tight budget and a dream for more space (including a garage to turn into an artist studio) we knew we could help them find the perfect diamond in the rough. We explored the idea of a multi family property (a great option where the income from the tenant can help you qualify for a larger purchase) as well as single family homes. When it came to single family homes they were generally in two categories: Fully fixed up homes with very small square footage, or larger homes that needed a lot of work. Since both our clients are handy and were not first time buyers, they decided to go for the fixer upper option.
